Unified payments layer wiring Stripe and PayPal into an existing platform, done safely. I built a unified payments layer over Stripe and PayPal — one clean internal API for charges, subscriptions and refunds, with idempotent webhook handling, retry logic, reconciliation and thorough handling of failure and edge cases. Built with Laravel, Stripe, PayPal, Webhooks, this api integration project was delivered for a client in Worldwide and designed for reliability, a clean user experience and long-term maintainability — so it keeps delivering value well after launch.
The challenge
A platform needed to accept payments through multiple providers but worried about webhooks, refunds, subscriptions and edge cases going wrong with real money.
